Animation of Global Crude Oil Consumption

The animation simulates the real-time speed of crude oil consumption globally. If all the crude oil was stored as barrels, brought to same physical location, and then burned in equal speed, this is how it would look like. The burning rate is equal to the world total consumption, 90.7 million (90 700 000) barrels per day. See the app or the video description for further numbers and statistics.

The animation is created by writing code in JavaScript and running it in a web browser. The animation video is recorded directly from the browser web app. The animation code and the app are bit heavy to compute and thus might lag a bit on common devices. The video runs smooth but if you need larger resolutions, try the web app.
